This Baked Caramel French Toast offers irresistible flavor made from simple ingredients, and it can be assembled the night before. Ingredients
- 14 slices of French bread, about 1-inch thick (from one large or two small loaves)
- 1/2 cup butter (1 stick)
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 3 tablespoons light corn syrup
- 6 eggs
- 1-1/2 cups milk
- 1 tablespoon vanilla
- Cinnamon
Directions
Over medium heat, melt butter, brown sugar, and corn syrup. Stir until the mixture comes to a boil and cook for 2- 3 minutes until the caramel comes together. Pour the caramel into a 9-inch x 11-inch glass or ceramic dish.
Layer the bread slices over the caramel mixture.
In a medium bowl, mix eggs, milk, and vanilla. Pour over the bread. Sprinkle the top with cinnamon and cover with plastic wrap.
Refrigerate overnight.
In the morning, uncover and bake in a 350-degree oven for 45 minutes.
Serve with fresh fruit.
