The UT football season is about to swing into high gear and what better way to enjoy the game than to tailgate? Tailgating is definitely a highlight when it comes to sporting events, so we thought we’d give you some tips on how to pull off your next tailgate party without a hitch. Plus, you want to make it memorable and most importantly fun for all!
What’s the most important thing at a tailgate party? The food of course! Some of the best foods for tailgating are chili, burgers, chicken wings, hot dogs, corn dogs, chicken skewers, potato salad, and quesadillas. Let’s not forget the chips and dips. Guacamole, salsa, and cheese dips are always a big hit. Don’t forget to bring the condiments either. Cookies, brownies, and cupcakes are great dessert options. Check out the Food Network website for delicious recipes on these tailgating favorites. Be sure to bring your favorite drinks to go with all the yummy food.
When tailgating in the parking lot of the big game, there are a few things to remember. The parking lots are usually full, so you don’t have time to run back home or to the store if you run out or forget something. Plus, you’ll lose your parking spot, so be sure to bring extras of everything such as tongs, propane, charcoal, trash bags, utensils, cups, plates, and plastic bags or containers for leftovers. One great item to have on hand is an apron. After all, you don’t want to get grease and sauce all over your favorite jersey. Chairs are also great to bring. If you’re using a charcoal grill, you may want to bring a metal bucket to put the charcoal in after the game if it’s still hot and glowing. Footballs, frisbees, cards, and other games will add some entertainment. A TV and satellite dish are great for watching the pregame show. Having some music on hand is not a bad idea either. If it’s going to be dark, consider bringing some night lights. Blankets come in handy on a chilly night and give you something to sit on as well.
Now you’re ready for a great tailgate party. Put on your lucky jersey, get out your UT flag and orange face paint, and enjoy the game. Oh and go Vols!
