Once a year
- Flush hot water heater
- Review renters or homeowner’s insurance and photograph any new items before it’s time to renew your policy
- Build or refill your disaster preparedness kit
Spring
- Aerate your lawn
- Book an AC inspection
- Clean exterior dryer vent
- Wash windows and clean out gutters
- Vacuum and clean window tracts
- Clean window air conditioners
- Check/change batteries in smoke and carbon monoxide detectors
- Reverse ceiling fan direction
- Vacuum fridge coils and wipe down inside of the fridge
- Clean behind the fridge and oven
- Wash range hood ventilation filters
- Check furnace filters
- Rotate mattress
- Clean washer and dryer and dishwasher
- Wash curtains, drapes, and shower curtain; replace shower curtain liners
- Clean baseboards and trim
- Inspect and reseal grout/caulk as needed in tiled areas
- Do a home safety check where you test smoke detector batteries, check all locks, and look for things like loose knobs, shelves, tripping hazards, and more.
Summer
- Clean dryer vent
- Check carbon monoxide monitor
- Flip mattress
- Clean behind washer and dryer
- Clean behind and under furniture
- Vacuum fridge coils and wipe down inside of the fridge
- Wash range hood ventilation filters
- Clean baseboards and trim
- Inspect and reseal grout/caulk as needed in tiled areas
- Book a chimney sweep for the end of the summer
Fall
- Book a heat inspection
- Reverse ceiling fan direction
- Clean exterior dryer vent
- Vacuum fridge coils and wipe down inside of fridge
- Wash windows
- Clean baseboards and trim
- Inspect and reseal grout/caulk as needed in tiled areas
- Clean out your gutters
- Clean behind the fridge and oven

Winter
- Recalibrate your oven temperature using the instructions in your manual

- Clean behind the washer and dryer

- Vacuum and clean floor vents

- Check and repair your window screens before beautiful spring temperatures
- Clean/winterize your grill
