Ice machines come in handy because they make the restaurant-quality ice that everyone loves. Most people don’t realize that they require semi-annual maintenance at the very least. Some brands can be a little more difficult than others to maintain, so we thought we would give you some basic instructions on how to keep your ice machine in tip-top condition.
Before you begin maintenance on the machine, you’ll need to remove the ice from the bin. Next, you’ll need to vacuum the coils. After you’re done vacuuming, pour in ice machine cleaner where it makes the ice, and let it run through the cycle. Once it makes ice again, you’ll need to throw away the next batch or two of ice.
It’s pretty simple and doesn’t take too long. It seems the hardest part is remembering to do it, so we recommend putting it on your calendar for February 1 and August 1. If you regularly maintain your ice machine, it should stay in good condition for a very long time. If you don’t want to handle the maintenance, give us a call and we’ll be happy to get you set up on a maintenance schedule with us.
